Toby Keith ~ July 1961 - February 2024
Page 37 of 366. Good Morning my Lovies. I hope you all had a good night and were able to get some rest; or I wish you all a great sleep, for those who are heading to bed soon, or just went to bed...
This morning, I woke up to the crappy news that one of my favourite country artists has passed away yesterday. I want to take a moment to honour him and his patriotic soul.
Toby Keith Covel was an incredible singer, and had zero qualms about voicing his opinion through music; and who could fault him for that? He had been battling stomach cancer for a few years, and he fought valiantly, even returning to the stage at the end of 2023. He is survived by his wife, Tricia and their 4 children, along with many family and loved ones.
He is well remembered and loved for how he stood behind the military, even through tributes that are pouring in now, including from Kid Rock, as he fondly remembers doing 11 USO tours with Toby... performing for troops in the homeland and overseas. His death is a great loss for the country music industry as well as his fans world wide.I know, this may sound strange writing about a celebrity I never met; but he did have a profound effect on my life.
First, he suffered and eventually lost his battle with stomach cancer, and for those of you who know, this is a super personal thing for me.
Second, his patriotism is unmatched by pretty much anyone else in the industry. He was standing up for things, long before some even knew it was an issue. He used his platform to expose things and sing about things, others were terrified to do or talk about.
Third, he wrote a song that was released in October 2009; it is called "Cryin' For Me (Wayman's Song). I heard the song for the first time, the morning of my Teddybear's death. The lyrics hit my like a freight train, as it literally was a Friday morning that Wayne passed away... and those are the first lyrics of the song. It felt like Wayne had left me a sign when he passed on.
If you have not heard the song, I highly recommend you do so. It really DOES speak about losing a loved one, but the message is very important. When we cry for someone we have lost in this life, through death, that we are not crying for them... we are crying for ourselves and how much we miss them. Love them. Wishing to hear their voice, one more time.
Toby Keith may never have known about me, or the stories of millions of his fans; but he knew his lyrics were profound and touched many of our souls... no matter what he was singing about. To me, he was one of a kind, with a beautiful soul and a killer voice that came with it.
May he rest in paradise and may his family and loved ones take comfort in knowing he is no longer in pain, nor suffering this long painful death. My love and respect goes out to them today and always.
Stay safe. Stay warm. Be well. Be blessed. Much love to all my lovies on this sad day :(
