Sunday Ponderings!!!

 

Page 147 of 366. Good Day all you fantabulous people. I hope you are enjoying the weekend, and for all my American friends and family, hope you enjoy the long weekend and really take into account what this long weekend is truly about!!! Not the drinking, partying and BBQs... it's about honouring and remembering those who have been, currently are and those who will be the brave who fight for our rights and freedoms. 

It is a day to memorialize the fallen... thank them for the freedoms they have bestowed and sacrificed for... even if those freedoms are being infringed upon in the presence. Sorry, I am not making this a political post. I just wanted to take a moment and acknowledge those who gave the ultimte sacrifice for you, me, my family and loved ones.

This post may be met with controversy, but it is not in me to avoid a discussion because someone might disagree with me. This world is not meant for all of us to be of a singular mindset... it is meant for us to all have the right to voice our opinions, and everyone can make their own decision. Just because I don't agree with you, doesn't mean we have to be enemies... that is where most of society is getting things wrong. 

Back in the ol days, if we disagreed, there would be a few punches exchanged, along with some words and then it was settled... today, people hold grudges for the dumbest shit... pettiness offends the weakest of people and to me, I just have to laugh at the absurdity of some of it at this point. I am kinda rambling, so let me get to the stuff I really wanted to express on this blurb...

I am not going to mention names, or anything like that; but I am going to bring up a real issue that is happening and no one really wants to deal with it. I saw a recent posting about our city hosting an annual festivaal that is coming up soon. People were voicing their concerns about the less fortunate ones who are living in tents at the public parks; feeling it was unsafe for them and their children to attend said festival; demanding that something should be done and these people should not be allowed to do this... most bitching that they are junkies and gross, dirty and vagrants for lack of a better word.

I am flat out going to say I am disgusted and appalled at your words right now. Where the hell did humanity go??? Do you honestly think people are choosing to pitch a tent or create a makeshift home out of cardboard or any materials that can keep them protected from the elements and predators??? Do you think anyone in their right mind chooses that??? Like wake the fuck up!!!

I am saying this both as a person who has lived on the streets and someone who has seen the world from the very opposite, where money was nothing and I had no worry in the world... 

Let me start this off with this... You are calling them druggies and junkies, yet do you know that for a fact??? Have you sat with any of the homeless to hear their story; share a meal with them, or even offer them a drink??? You scoff at them being hooked on drugs, but do you even know the circumstances that drew them to take that first pill, or inject themselves for the first time? Do you even know if they did it of their own free will? Open your hearts. They are people just like you and I, frankly, most people are a simple paycheck away from being in the exact same position, so count your blessings!!!

Now I am going to bring up the part that a lot of y'all are talking about them being mentally ill, or mentally unstable... well no shit Sherlock!!! Our medical system is failing mental health like it never has before. Facilities to help those most at risk are being closed so our governments can reallocate money to what?? New immigrants/refugees??? 

People cannot access medications if they cannot get coverage from government assistance and they don't have medical insurance... How does that fall on their heads? You can blame them as much for their conditions as you can blame someone for having MS or cancer or diabetes, or any other illness. I am sooooo tired of how people cannot see past their own nose when it comes to others. 

You bitch at how bad the tent cities are making the city look, but you're not understanding why there is no other choice. You act like you're better than these people, what because you have a roof over your head, food in your belly??? Do you know that a lot of the people who are living in these homeless encampments have jobs; but the housing market is soooooo outrageously expensive, that it's at the point that if you are a well-seasoned lawyer, even... how can you afford to buy a home... let alone rent one?

We need to be taking our governments to task for these situations. It is not the people, it is the idiots in charge... the men and women who are supposed to be working for the very people they are destroying daily!!! I just have one question to ask all of you...

When did it become the norm that you going to a festival became more important than the lives of hundreds, if not thousands of people who have been displaced by our pathetic governing body??? I just want to know exactly when this world went to total shit, because this honestly is not the world I am a part of and will never conform to. Just be fucking grateful it isn't you laying on the hard ground, laying on your back, wondering where your next meal is going to come from, or IF you'll even have a next meal. Worrying every day and night if you will be robbed or killed for whatever little things you possess.
