The Number Thirteen ~ Exquisite!!!
Sure, there are shootings and stabbings; but that happens in EVERY big city and if you say that it doesn't... you're full of shyt!!! Anyways, that is not what I was trying to talk about...
I live in a big apartment building that is 18 floors (technically 17, because you know, #13 seems to be a taboo number). Do you wanna know WHY most buildings have this??? I have to sort of laugh at the reasoning because I am of Pagan beliefs, (a "witch" if you need to give me a label). I strongly feel that the number 13 is lucky and a very important part of life. But let me tell you why buildings are built this way...
It all is because of triskaidekaphobia... literally the fear of the superstitions behind the number. This always seemed sooooooooo bizarre to me.This, again, is just another example of how those in authority caved and catered to one group of individuals; not considering other groups. The number 13 is considered lucky in various countries; like France and Italy.
Funny thing is that "13" is a very prominent number for various reasons all around the world....
In Norse mythology, the god Loki was the 13th to attend the feast in Vahalla, after he tricked someone else to kill the god Baldur. The 13th rune from the Norse alphabet is linked with the duality... it represents the balance between light and dark and the infamous quote... AS ABOVE, SO BELOW!!!
In Christianity, (people who aren't supposed to belief in superstitions), believe there should never be 13 people gathered at the table. Their reasoning behind this is because when Jesus held the Last Supper with his Disciples, Judas Iscariot was to be the 13th; but he was busy setting up the ultimate betrayal; making a deal with the Jews, who wanted to kill one of their own (Jesus).
Old English legend (Arthur, Merlin) guards the 13 Treasures of Britain. The sacred Chord of the Druid tradition has exactly 13 segments. There's 13 Doctrines of the Bards.
In "Wicca", thirteen is an extremely important number for various reasons... When a Coven is created, it traditionlly has 13 members. Thirteen (13) represents the return of the Divine Feminine (mysteries associated with Mary Magdalene, Mary, Shekinah and The Sophia... all of these express wisdon of natural cycles, and the very sacred balance of all things.
It is coded with the frequency of Ascension. The number 13 is a prime number and is only divisible by itself, making it pure and incorruptible. In tarot card decks, it is the death card. It is represents both death and rebirth (the ascension to eternal life). It holds secret knowledge life force and expression of sacred sexuality.
Here's an interesting fact, (most people know that turtles are sacred animals BUT did you know that every turtle has the power of divine wisdom. ALL turtles have 13 segments on their shells. Our Ancestors/Ancients believed that the pattern on a turtle's shell was connected to the true Lunar calendar. As you guessed it, 13 is also associated with the moon, which should be kinda obvious since we get 13 full moons every year!!!How about the ancient civilization of Egypt???
They documented 13 steps on a ladder to eternity; the top step being where souls reach ascension (spiritual completion).
I know I am babbling, but I promise I am almost done...
Here's a revelation that cannot be a coincidence. Ever notice that the word REINCARNATION has THIRTEEN letters???
(Even in modern days, it has significance, The United States flag has 13 stripes (6 white, 7 red). The original flag had 13 stars representing the 13 colonies. The US Government Great Seal has 13 stars, 13 arrows, 13 berries, 13 stripes and 13 leaves... nevermind that is also contains TWO 13 letter phrases!!!)
So tell me how the number 13 is insignificant, and I think the biggest thing people need to remember is that the vibration of the number 13 is...
2.We are One, Out of many!!!
Sorry for being so long winded. I guess I am just trying to make up for lost time as well as reminding myself why I need to return to my "witchy" stuff. Stay blessed!!!
