November Is the Awareness Month of....
Hi y'all. As you may have seen, I like to write a bit about what our days or months are used for making people aware of specific things that affect everyone...
Although, I am from Canada and our National Indigenous Month is in June; oddly the National Month Of American Native Heritage is November.
I, personally don't know why the months differ; maybe one of my readers can explain that to me.
I DO think it is in ill-taste that it is also this month that Americans choose to celebrate Thanksgiving; a day that has such a disturbing and bloody history!!! We all know, this is just my humble opinion.
Of course, I think people should be thankful for all who they have in their lives... not what you HAVE, but WHO you have!!!
As for the rest of the month, I am only going to write about the days that I feel are important to me... be offended if you want; but there are some things I will NOT celebrate simply because I do NOT agree with them or the people who agree with the views pertaining to such days!!!
The first week of November is dedicated to Stress Awareness... This is very important for people to recognize. Many, if not the majority of humans are trying to cope with various levels of stress.Sometimes it is very difficult for others to spot it in their friends; and the easiest way to comfort them, in their times of trouble, is to offer an ear, or a shoulder. Sometimes, advice is not what is needed... more often than not, we just want to be heard!!!
I wasn't going to post about this one because I have my own views on this; but I also have family that are trans... that being said, the first 2 weeks of November are also considered "Transgender" Awareness month. I post about it, because I also know a lot of people who are trans, suffer from depression or suicide; and those two disorders run very close to my heart.
We then have World Kindness Week. Again, something that is vital to our world right now. Empathy has flown out the window these days; along with most things pertaining to being ol school. It truly is disgusting how society is nowadays; being so passionate and empathic in this day and age, is extremely difficult and draining (to say the least!!!)
Third week of November, we get Restorative Justice Awareness and National Family Awareness Week!!!Do these ones really have to go hand-in-hand???
Repairing harm caused by crime and wrong doing.
Bringing together victims, offenders, and the community to restore harmony.
Addressing the root causes of crime and transforming unjust systems and structures.
Providing opportunities for safe and voluntary dialogue between all parties involved.
Maybe it is just me, but I much rather make that week about street justice; because let's be real... our governments are failing the people BIG time!!! I cannot comment too much on other countries, but here in Canada... our Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau (Castro, if you will), has been using this stupid pilot project called "CATCH & RELEASE".
If you have been able to keep up with Canadian news (since we are banned form sharing it on social media, thanks to our VERY corrupt government); you'd see how poorly our country is being run and how Trudeau Junior has virtually made our first world country into a third world country and pretty much a communist country!!! It is absolutely FUCKED!!!
The big main Awareness things of the month of November are... Native American Heritage Month, Movember, National Homeless Youth, COPD, Diabetes, Epilepsy, Lung Cancer, Pancreatic Cancer, Dercum’s Disease (Adiposis Dolorosa), etc.Individual days include...
International Day for Preventing the Exploitation of the Environment in War and Armed Conflict - November 6
World Adoption Day - November 9
Remembrance/Veterans Day - November 11th
International Day for Tolerance - November 16
International Survivors of Suicide Loss Day - 1st Saturday before the US Thanksgiving
Humane Society Anniversary Day - November 22
International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women - November 25
Unthanksgiving Day - The same day as US Thanksgiving
The National Day of Mourning - The same day as US Thanksgiving
National Day of Listening - 1st Friday after US Thanksgiving
Giving Tuesday - 1st Tuesday after US Thanksgiving
As I have said, there are many, many, many things to acknowledge this month. I obviously didn't write down everything for each day... I wrote down most of the ones that are close to my heart. The biggest thing I feel we must remember this month is our military... past, present and future. November 11th.... always the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month... please take 2 minutes out of your day to stay still and remember/thank those who selflessly fought for our rights and freedoms!!! It's the least they deserve :)
May you all stay safe. Stay warm/cool. Be well and Be blessed. Most of all, remember that you are all loved.
