I Made a MIstake...
Hi y'all. Its is damn cold for most people today. Alas, I am a TRUE Canadian and am still wandering around the house in barefeet, t-shirt, and windows open... It's only -4 C (24.8 F) outside. No biggie!!!
Sooooo, I made the mistake of looking up some articles about recent crimes; thinking ahead about working on my crime blog... Man, WTF is happening in this world we are in???
I mean, I understand the funeral of common sense happened a couple decades ago... but hasn't it been replaced yet???
Isn't there an expiry date on stupidity, or is society just going to get dumber and dumber... Please don't answer, that was DEFINITELY a rhetorical question.
For those of you who don't know, I am obsessed with crimes ~ the story, the investigation, the trials and convictions. I am extremely intrigued in the mind behind the crime. What made the person "flip"? What triggered the perpetrator?? Is is a case of nature versus nurture???
INQUIRING MINDS NEED TO KNOW!!!
Today, however, reading some of the stories really shook me.. I was reading stories about new year's eve and there was one story that stuck out... a 10 year old child was hit amd killed by a bullet after there were celebratory shots into the air at midnight. I understand, this is a custom to some people and their culture BUT do they not understand that shooting guns into the air... the bullets still has to come back down. Unfortunately, this celebration ended in traged; but WHY does it take a death for people to even question their customs???
I read a story, that was similar to one of the cases I worked on in my blog regarding a pediatric nurse who was killing her patients.... this is another case of an employee of the hospital was injuring the children in the NICU, 4 in 2023 and 3 in 2024. How does this happen? What goes through a person's mind to harm defenseless infants; most of them who are preemies or there with life-threatening ailments.
Another story is about a mother who put her baby in a tote bag, wrapped in blankets, but left the wee one on someone's front steps... in the middle of a freezing cold night. Now, I am not going to be excessively harsh as I don't know the full circumstances of this case. She appeared to be a young mom, and again, no one knows what her mindset was... the problem I have with this case, is the state has the "Safe Haven" (Baby Box); she could have dropped the baby off at the firestation, the hospital or a police station and no questions would have been asked. She also would not have faced any legal consequences... now she is!!!
I really shouldn't have read any crime stories today. My mind was not ready to wrap my thoughts around such intense, disturbingly sad stories. I DO hope that I will be able to refocus on that soon. I am sorry if this was too graphic for some; but I needed to share it.
