Am I Understanding This Correctly???
Page 32 of 365. Yah. I am surprised I am not spitting fire right now.
Yes, you all know I am Canadian, and I regularly bitch about our pathetic government being run by the idiotic Justin Castro aka Justin Trudeau. He has literally driven our beautiful homeland soooo far into the ground, it's going to take years, if not decades to recover from all the bullshit he has done...
Anyways, that is not my topic for today.
I am beyond outraged about news I am hearing that is coming from our friendly "big brother" of the south, the United States of America.
(Please bear with my ignorance as us, Canadians, are still under a media ban, thanks to the tyrrant who runs our government!!!)
I am hearing that the newest idiot in charge, who has literally only taken office, what??? a couple weeks ago??? First, I am find out that he has "banned" Black History Month", only a few days before the month begins. I don't give a shit, I am still going to honour what February is, and no orange marshmallow is going to prevent that. I am a freethinker and have every fkn right to my own views and opinions!!!
Not only has he banned this month, he has suspended events marking "Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage Month", "National American Indian Heritage Month", "LGBTQ Pride Month", "Women's History Month" and days like... "Juneteenth". "Martin Luther King Jr." and "Holocaust Remembrance Day".
(Before I express my views on all this, I wanted to share this quote)...
Martin Luther King III, son of the civil rights icon, responded to these reports with a memo he posted on social media, "Now more than ever, I am dedicated to being about my father's business and I encourage all people of good will to be about the business of Peace, Justice, Love and Equity."The White House has issued a response to the outrage, saying, "As far as I know, this White House certainly still intends to celebrate - and we will continue to celebrate American history and the contributions that all Americans, regardless of race, religion or creed, have made to our great country... they even declared, "AMERICA IS BACK!!!"
Everyone has their own opinion on other awareness months that we have, and I am not really going to touch on those in this post, BUT I AM going to mention one last thing that really irks me, and somewhat because it hits closer to home than I care to share.
Even before the Pentagon-wide announcement, the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA), has PAUSED recognition of BLACK HISTORY MONTH, The Air Force even removed a video celebrating the Tuskegee Airmen, a segregated unit of BLACK pilots who fought in World War II (WWII), before restoring (the video) it amid an uproar.
This may not count for much, as this blurb is coming from a white girl... but I am going to express my disdain for the injustices in the world we live in...
I keep saying, banning and erasing history is simply going to make the world repeat the same mistakes. There absolutely is to be a black history month... to erase is to forget. You can't eradicate the past simply by denying it. The simple fact is slavery happened... segregation was real... the lynching and horrendous abuse against a people simply because of their skin colour was real; and is still VERY much a way of life in places today; even places far closer than you'd think.
Now, erasing National American Indian Heritage Month is a MASSIVE mistake on his part. I don't give a shit, what colour or race or religion you are... The NATIVES (not Indians) definitely should have recognition, and in my personal opinion, it shouldn't just be one month of the year. The one thing the US government should really do, is get their head out of their asses. They are NOT "Indians", they are "NATIVES". After all the unmarked mass graves being discovered around residential schools, this is the LAST thing he should be doing!!!
As for the rest of the months with awareness, I have varying opinions. I won't change my stance on June though. June is MEN'S MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS MONTH, and it needs to remain dedicated to that, as it is still such a taboo subject. It is NOT Pride month, and they had NO right taking that away from such an important cause. This is my view ... FOR NOW!!!!
Stay safe. Stay warm. Be well. Be blessed. Most of all, Be loved.
