Stop Pulling That Race Card ~ Sometimes It Just Is What It Is!!!

Good Morning Lovies. May you be having a blessed day, while I hope others are having the day they deserve!!! 

This blurb is NOT going to be a long one because frankly, I shouldn't even have to be talking about this, in this day and age; but it was brought up in a facebook group I am in, so now y'all are going to hear about it!!!

The topic is the half-time shows from the "Holiest Day of the Year" aka Superbowl Sunday. 

(You can insert eye roll here... I know I did!)

There was an article about how Kendrick Lamar is not getting paid for performing the half-time show. (Of course people immediately had to mention Taylor Swift, which really irks me. I am soooooo over the Travis and Taylor Show... it's time to get back to the grid and football!!!)Anyways, none of the performers get paid for this gig, in fact, as far as I know (and I could be wrong), Michael Jackson is the only one who ever got paid.

People were complaining about the type of performances they have at half-time, many mentioning that they are sick of it always being rap or hiphop. Some suggesting to bring on some country singers, or even rock... I won't apologize when I say I would love to see some rockbands up there... I always questioned why their music is fine for the intermissions and breaks, but not for the stage??? 

WELL, THESE COMMENTS CAUSED AN UPROAR, LIKE HOLY SHYT!!!

I will admit, someone irked me when they suggested a Christian artist would be nice. UMMMM, NOPE!!! I am not saying this to offend any Christians, I am just reiterating that there is no place for politics nor religion in sports. It's a simple fact!

I don't know why the next part shocked me, because as soon as someone said they should change the artists and music genre... racists comments immediately started. Several people implying that people didn't like the artists because of the colour of their skin. 

ARE YOU FKN SERIOUS RIGHT NOW???

Now I am pissed!!! Has nobody heard of Lenny Kravitz? How about Darius Rucker?? Or do people forget that Jimi Hendrix is considered to be one of the greatest and most influential guitarists in the history of rock music??? Did you know that Slash aka Saul Hudson's (Guns N' Roses) mother was a black American fashion designer? Let's add Tina Turner, Kane Brown, Jimmie Allen, Charley Pride, Allison Russell???

I think I have made my point. Stop pulling the racist card on every single thing people say. Not liking a certain genre of music doesn't make you racist, hell one, if not the best, rap artist of all times is white (Eminem). That doesn't mean people are gonna love rap now simply because he is white.

I won't deny that racism exists... We all hear and see it everyday. If that was what people intended with their comments, that is on them and it's disgusting; but I am going to say, it was not a white person who accused someone of it first. Maybe, just maybe, he was speaking the truth; as I am here. The half-time shows need to switch it up, change the genres every year; you can't cater to some fans and ignore others who have been asking for YEARS to make a change.

AND BEFORE Y'ALL WANNA CALL ME RACIST, LET ME TELL YOU... I LOVED THE HALFTIME SHOW WITH SNOOP DOGG, DR DRE, MARY J. BLIGE, EMINEM & KENDRICK LAMAR (& 50 CENT). I loved Michael Jackson's performance. I loved Prince's performance... so stick your racist card in your pipe and smoke it!!! 

This isn't about race to me. I will not apologize to people for how this makes them feel or their perception of my words, as I have made it abundantly clear where I stand. This is MY truth!!!
