Bitch Fest Commencing

I wasn't sure I wanted to write a second entry today, but something has irritated me the past few days; I felt it was important to vent about it rather than keep it inside ~ burning my thoughts any longer...

So, as many of you know, I am dealing with many, many, MANY health issues, that have unfortunately force me to be in disability. This is a blessing in certain ways; but in others, it is an entire shit show.

Living in Canada, and having "free" healthcare DOES have its benefits. I have a great family doctor. I recommend him to everyone. He is very attentive to every issue that is going on with me, and he doesn't dismiss anything, no matter how minor it may seem.

I know, a lot of people will say it takes a lot to see a specialist; but, I kind of leave people with their jaws dropped when I reveal I have 17 specialists. To most, it WOULD sound soooo bizarre, and to see me, you would not think I need all of them; but if you were in my daily life, you would KNOW why I have each and every one of them.

I won't bore you will all the conditions I have, because to be perfectly honest, when I am standing in front of people, they scoff (often), implying I am exaggerating. All I have to do, is pull up this nifty little app called "MyChart"; and on there is ALL the information the hospitals put on there, tests and everything... Let's just say, I'm not holding my breath to hear an apology.

WOW. I have gone WAY off course here...

There is something that happened to me (again) that I wanted to bring up, that shouldn't be happening in a first world country; but what can you expect from a country that is basically controled by the BIG PHARMA....

I suffer from brutal headaches. Yes, I have migraines. I have barometric headaches. I also have a condition called IIH (Idiopathic Intracranial hypertension)... It's sooooo awesome!!! (Note the sarcasm). These headaches give me nose bleeds, and sometimes they get bad enough that my ears bleed. I have been known to get spinal taps a few times a year to relieve the pressure; but ever since "COVID", that has been scarce. Specialists are pushing for me to get a shunt put in... UMMMM, no thanks!!!

The other option is medications.

I am on one medication, I have been on for 20ish years. It needs to be closely monitored; thankfully it is also for seizures (as I get those too); but it isn't as effective as it used to be. I was put on another med about 10 years ago, that wasn't covered... that medication was $2200.00 a month. Yah, something I could not afford; and the government refused to cover it. Imagine. A life-saving medication, and denied.

Last week, I was given some samples of a new medication to see if it helped. When I tell you that it worked incredibly fast and well; I was so happy, I cried. I was given 4 pills... I took 1 every night. I then called the pharmacy and found out it was NOT covered. This medication is $1300.00 for EIGHT (8) pills!!! For someone who has occasional headaches, they recommend the max of 18 pills a month...

Unfortunately, I will need 1 pill every day... so where does that leave me??? The doctor is supplying me with another 4 pills and will apply once again to see if the government will cover this urgently needed medication. I am at the point THEY better pray that they let it go through because I may be one of those born and raised Canadians who will SNAP, and look pretty good in turquoise or white!!! Either way, those pills would be guaranteed with those clothes on my body!!!!

Just sayin'
