Happy All Snakes Day!!!

To some, today may be a day dedicated to St. Patrick. To others, today is a day about liberation and freedome from spiritual oppression and saying you're still here no matter who tries to give you. Whether you believe in the story of St. Pat, or believe that you're still a snake that will not be forced into hiding, let today be a day to truly remember your roots. To thank your ancestors for all they've provided you with and to be ever so grateful for this gift of life.

Patrick, a fifth-century missionary, is credited with chasing all the snakes out of Ireland. The problem is, actual snakes, being cold-blooded creatures, never lived in Ireland. So, what "snakes" could he have possibly chased away?

It turns out, "snakes" was a malicious metaphor for Pagans. Patrick is hailed for single-handedly wiping Paganism from Ireland and ushering in Christianity.

As a result, some Pagans look at March 17th as a dark day of mourning. But some of us look at it differently—as a day worth celebrating because Patrick flat-out failed.

THE TRUTH ABOUT SAINT PATRICK

Many modern Pagans still feel anger toward Patrick because of the stories that describe his battle against their ancestors. He drove the Druids from the Emerald Isle, forced people to convert to Christianity at swordpoint, and smashed all the Pagan temples.

But the fact of the matter is, these are just stories. They are what you call "fakelore." They are popular tales told by Christians hundreds of years after Patrick's death. Seen as a hero, rumors of Patrick fighting the "bad guys "flourished over the centuries.

HISTORY REVEALS THE TRUE STORY

Historians, however, have found no evidence of any such bloody Pagan holocaust. Ireland actually experienced one of the swiftest and most peaceful mass conversions in Europe. Even so, it took more than a hundred years to take over, and Patrick wasn't the only missionary.

Being angry at a preacher man who lived 1,600 years ago just because his religion took root and spread is wasted energy, in my opinion. Sure, I would have loved to see what the world might have looked like had Paganism not been nearly extinguished. For whatever reason, though, our Pagan ancestors felt Christianity was right for them back in Ireland in the fifth century, and they readily embraced it with little resistance.

PATRICK AND HIS "BRETHERN" FAILED TO STOMP OUT PAGANISM, AND OUR RELIGIONS/BELIEFS ARE NOW FLOURISHING ACROSS THE WORLD. THAT IS SOMETHING TO CELEBRATE!!!

IRISH CULTURE IS WORTH CELEBRATING

Stay safe. Stay wamr/cool. Be well. Be blessed. Above all else... Be LOVED!!!
